Biography Text: Elena Figuero is Professor in Periodontology in the Faculty of Dentistry, University Complutense Madrid (UCM), Madrid, Spain, where she is the current Associate Dean for Quality Assurance and International Affairs and the Director of two post-graduate programs (Research Methodology in the Dentistry and Clinical Periodontology). Prof. Figuero is an Associate Editor of Journal of Clinical Periodontology and Clinical Oral Implants Research. She has been elected as the Chair of the European Workshop in Periodontology Committee by the European Federation of Periodontology for the period 2026-2029. Additionally, she is a Trustee of the Foundation of the Spanish Society of Periodontology (SEPA), a member of the Expert Council of the Osteology Foundation, and an advisor of the European Association of Osseointegration (EAO). She is the current coordinator of the UCM Research Group "Etiology and Therapy of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases (ETEP)”, which has received the award of Technology Transfer and Knowledge from the UCM in the Biomedical and Health Sciences Modality. She has participated in 1 European research project, in 6 national projects (3 as principal investigator-PI), in 1 Santander-UCM project (as PI) and in more than1 15 research contracts. Prof. Figuero is included in the 2024 ranking world´s top 2% scientist from the Sandford University. Among the 39 Spanish researchers listed in Dentistry, she is in the 7th position.
