Biography Text: Takanori Iwata was born in Tokyo. He graduated from the School of Dentistry at Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 1998 and completed his graduate studies at the same university in 2002, earning his doctoral degree. In 2004, he became a certified specialist in periodontology by the Japanese Society of Periodontology. He worked for two years as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He then worked at the Institute of Advanced Biomedical Sciences, Tokyo Women's Medical University, for 12 years. Since 2019, he has served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Periodontology at Tokyo Medical and Dental University. His notable achievements include cell therapy using periodontal ligament cells, and he has published over 180 original research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
