Biography Text: Dr. Angela “Toula” Palaiologou is a Professor and the Graduate Program Director at UT Health San Antonio. She received her certificate in Periodontics and Master of Science Degree in 2000 from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. She began her academic career in 2007 after seven years in private practice. From 2009 till 2018 she was the Postgraduate Program Director at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry Department of Periodontics. Dr. Palaiologou is a Diplomate, a past President of the American Board of Periodontology and currently serves as the Director of Examinations for the ABP. She has served as a board member of the Southwest Society of Periodontists and an active member of the IADR/AADR, ADA, SADDS and TDA. She is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology where she has served in several committees including the In-Service Exam Committee, the Education Committee, the Match task force which was awarded an AAP Special Citation. She is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. She was awarded the 2020 AAP Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring Education Award, elected chair of the AAP Postdoctoral Directors Organization in 2017-2018, has served as a Commission of Dental Accreditation site visitor since 2015 and in the CODA Periodontics Review Committee since 2020 and is a 2014 ADEA Leadership Institute fellow. She has authored and co-authored several publications in peer reviewed journals as well as book chapters.
