The practice of Minimal and Moderate Sedation is an evolving and dynamic discipline that requires continual education to modernize techniques and safely treat an increasingly medically complex patient pool. These programs will review essential pharmacology concepts, sedation complication avoidance, patient monitoring, treatment of special populations (Geriatric, Obese, etc) and more while providing the latest updates germane to safe Sedation Practice. Additionally, these programs may assist with meeting requirements for various states’ permit renewal processes. This course meets the Dental Board of California’s requirements for 4.0 units of continuing education.

Educational Objectives

  • Empower attendees to fully comprehend the scientific basis for use of newer sedative drugs and drug classes via review of relevant pharmacologic principles and current published literature.
  • Review the risks, benefits and indications for all sedative drug classes appropriate for moderate sedation practice, while simultaneously helping the audience develop frameworks for the safe use of multimodal sedative regimens in daily practice.
