This presentation will highlight minimally invasive regenerative therapies for severe periodontitis in older adults, particularly in the context of the increasing prevalence of diabetes with age. Attendees will learn about the current clinical evidence supporting microsurgical regenerative therapy and Er:YAG laser-assisted flapless surgery. This course meets the Dental Board of California’s requirements for 0.5 units of continuing education.Educational Objectives
- Describe the age-related and systemic factors that influence treatment planning for periodontitis in elderly patients.
- Assess current clinical evidence for minimally invasive regenerative therapies and Er:YAG laser-assisted flapless surgery in older adults, including patients with diabetes.
